Dewatering projects come in all shapes and sizes, but one thing that remains constant is the need for accessories like hosing and flotation systems. While these accessories might seem like small details, they play a critical role in ensuring that dewatering operations run smoothly and efficiently.
At IPR we understand the importance of choosing the right hosing and flotation systems which is why we carry a comprehensive range of Pump Flotation Devices (PFD) and Hose Flotation Devices (HFD). These products are available for purchase or hire, making it easy to find the perfect match for your dewatering project.
The role of Pump Flotation Devices (PFD)
A Pump Flotation Devices (PFD) suspends the pump during pumping operations, which helps to prevent the pump from getting damaged or lost if it moves into the bottom of the dam, stopes or pond where the dewatering is being done. It also reduces wear on the pump because it’s not in direct contact with the sediment at the bottom.
Our PFDs are made from low-density high-strength polyethylene and filled with polyurethane foam ensuring the flotation device won’t sink, even if the outer skin gets punctured.
We offer three different sizes of PFDs, with carrying capacities of 250 kg, 600 kg, and 1.2 t. If you need to suspend a heavier mass, multiple PFDs can be used in series to accommodate the weight.
The role of Hose Flotation Devices (HFD)
Hose Flotation Devices (HFD) are used when pumping applications involve using pontoons or barges and the hose needs to be suspended above the water, or when the hosing is laid across the water instead of around the perimeter. Routing the pipework across the direct line of sight to the barge or pontoon will result in substantial cost savings. Our HFDs are designed to accommodate cables that cover the same distance as the hoses and are available in all common hose sizes.
At IPR, we take great pride in the quality of our products and services. Our experienced team is always available to provide advice on the most suitable options for your specific pump applications. Plus, we take complete responsibility for maintenance of flotation devices on site, keeping comprehensive records to ensure proactive, scheduled maintenance when it’s needed.
